A Rainy-Day Route Through Myeongdong
Start at Euljiro 1-ga Station and use the Myeongdong and Sogong underground passages for access toward Lotte Department Store, Young Plaza and City Hall. Continue through indoor shopping, eat near the northern side, then take one short outdoor segment toward Myeongdong Cathedral or Myeongdong Station. The passages reduce rain exposure but do not connect every block.
Use the northern underground network
Visit Seoul says the Myeongdong Underground Shopping Center links the district toward City Hall and connects with Lotte facilities; the Sogong arcade also links City Hall and Myeongdong.
Confirm exit opening times and accessibility. Some paths involve stairs, and department-store connections follow store hours.
Build one short outdoor segment
After indoor shopping, choose a nearby meal rather than crossing the district repeatedly. Save the cathedral or southern streets for a lighter spell, then leave from Myeongdong Station.
In heavy summer rain, prioritize dry shoes, a compact umbrella and extra travel time. Street-food stalls may operate irregularly.
